Dre-XT-Stueck or bust - living with the "Stueck"

The subject of this post contains a few multilingual puns, my apologies for that.

The old girl by now has clocked up about 150km since the engine overhaul. And I'll be honest the sun wasn't shining all the time. But that's what the old girl signed up for.

A couple of minor things were to be addressed: Most importantly now the inlet valves needed some adjustment.

And secondly, the automatic decompressor finally had to be adjusted.

But what most people might be more interested in: Is the upgrade from the 500 4-valve worth it, is it any faster? Oh you bet, the old girl's a lot faster than with the 500 engine. She quite easily does 145kph or a bit more. But that's not the big difference. The old girl now has got the sort of midrange I always wanted from a big thumper. Between 3000 and 5000rpm there's technically no such thing as getting to a hill in the wrong gear, making the ride very relaxed and laid back. As a result the old girl will now happily roll everywhere at 100kph, with some nice extra oomph to overtake cars or the like, even, when I had to slow down behind them at first. With the old engine this was a lot more do-or-die.

The next thing will be to find a way to legalize this engine without spending a king's ransom for the paperwork and then make a new pannier-rack to unleash the full potential.
